Richmond Run — Boys, Beach & a Big Carrot
Eight days in Richmond. Todd's 10th flight — which, if you're keeping score, means the dog has more flight experience than a lot of adults I know.
We stayed at the Graduate Hotel downtown, which had pool tables. Huxley, who is eight years old and apparently a pool shark, proceeded to make me look mediocre. We also hit Classified Moto — the motorcycle hotel — which is exactly as cool as it sounds. Motorcycles everywhere, the kind of place that makes you feel like you should own a leather jacket.
Virginia Beach was the main event with the boys. Got an Airbnb with a hot tub. Huxley in a hot tub is exactly the content you'd expect — pure chaos, maximum goofiness, filmed all of it.
Bowling happened. Hudson's school needed a volunteer to put furniture together, so I showed up and did that. Not glamorous, but that's the trip — real life doesn't pause because you're technically on an adventure.
Joe's Inn. The Bon Air location. Chicken livers — full platters, the way it should be. If you know Joe's Inn, you know. If you don't, fix that.
Todd walked into a Walmart with Hudson to pick up Legos. Normal Tuesday behavior for a Giant Schnauzer with ten flights under his collar.
We did some school on the road. We visited my buddy Scotty and Laura. Scotty has a carrot in his yard. Not a garden carrot. A massive, inexplicable, slightly unsettling carrot. No further explanation was offered. None was needed.
Todd got a new haircut somewhere in there and looked both dignified and ridiculous simultaneously, which is his permanent operating state.
Eight days. The boys. The dog with the air miles. A carrot that raises more questions than it answers.
